tattoo time

it came to my attention that i haven't shared photos of my recent ink adventures with you all on here...my tattoo artist & friend teddy did this for me, oh about a month ago now & i am madly in love with it!

you can also see my little owl poking out the side there...

this is just the first installment...she will be coloured soon!
she? what...? do girls do that thing that guys do with cars & call it her & she, but with their tattoos? apparently so...i'm okay with it.

anyways, yes! so there she is. my ninth little beauty...one day i should do a total overhaul post of all of my tattoos...i have quite the collection now!

blogger meet up: peterborough

from left to right: caren from a blog about the little things: tea & chickadees, des of so fawned, me from...well here, jen (or lucky) from lucky jackson, mel from needle & nest design, elycia of love elycia and astrid from a girl named astrid all we were missing was chantilly from my girl thursday but today was her move in day to her new home. side note: we were all freezing our *ahem* balls off in this photo, we thought outside photos would be cool...rather just cold...& windy.

astrids lovely mum was holding a show called foundling in the peterborough art gallery and her exhibit was just filled to the brim with vintage goodness. there will be about a thousand more photos, literally...probably close to a thousand were taken (digital, film, polaroid, instragram, ALL sorts!) so there will be plenty more photos soon, in the meantime here's some 'behind the scenes' ones i took from elycia & des' instagrams.

it was such a fun day, i didn't want it to end! we have a pretty awesome little group of bloggers here in peterborough and i definitely want to spend more time with these lovely ladies...oh & elycia, you must move to peterboroooough!!

spreading christmas cheer

this is so stinkin' cute...katie from colour me katie & her improv troop do something called improv everywhere...it looks so fun! i love everyones shocked faces as they're wondering what is going on!

currently

Obsessing over: picking out the perfect Christmas gifts for everyone and also this video from two of my favourite artists, ellie goulding & bon iver...also, this is my favourite bon iver song (doesn't get much better than this)

Working on: homework (will it ever end?) also, some research for the design/creative company I work for (I am loving my new part-time job by the way...I work with the best team of people!)

Thinking about: dinner tonight & Mikey coming home. I am making stuffed chicken, potatoes and crescent rolls for dinner (yum!) Mikey is bringing home a Muppets movie & we're going to share a bottle of red wine. I love nights like this with my favourite man.

Anticipating: being done 1st semester (Dec 16th, you are too far away!!) I cannot wait to be done and have 3 weeks off over Christmas to go home and enjoy some much needed time away from the business of my life recently.

Drinking: a delicious columbian coffee :)

Wishing: that there was just a few (read: several) more hours in the day *sigh* that would be lovely...

blog crush: please note

i absolutely love coming across a new blog that is flawless in every way possible. please note is that new blog for me...she covers everything from fashion to recipes, DIYs, holiday ideas...visiting her blog, my mind went on inspiration overload. i'm super impressed! she also has 2 lovely etsy shops: please note paper goods & please note vintage
i have total christmas tree envy. i've always wanted a pink christmas tree.

she made this awesome DIY for this adorable paper tree made out of childrens books, so cute!

i definitely want to be able to make these deliciously yummy pepperoni pizza loaves...currently drooling.

& look at these amazing letter pillows she made?? i'm beginning to wonder if there's anything she can't do...

if you do one thing today, make sure it's checking out the please note blog

srslyliz is also hosting a giveaway on her blog from this lovely lady!!

around the blogosphere: fashion first

this weeks around the blogosphere features some incredibly fashionable ladies whose wardrobes i would love to play dress up in!

always on trend, i love jessica's blog wild tortoise & she's a fellow canadian too (toronto)

i think that if i could have anyone's entire wardrobe...in the world, it'd be carolines she always looks so great!

laura nailed it with this look, don't you think? i love everything about it...her soft curls, cute glasses, vintage neil young tee, maxi skirt, mocassins...yup, put me in this outfit everyday & i'd be a happy camper!

speaking of neil young...kind of a neat story but we currently are living above what used to be a guitar shop (it just closed down this past summer) & our landlord has told us that neil young has been in this apartment...in our apartment!! isn't that neat??

ugh, total & complete thrift envy. suzzy thrifted this velvet dress for $2! i've been lusting/favouriting these exact styles on etsy for weeks.

totally crushing out on: platforms

alright, so apparently i've been all about the 90s lately...i've been obsessed with velvets & now all of a sudden i'm craving an awesome pair of platform shoes/boots. i spent most of my childhood (the parts i have memories from anyway) in the 90s so i guess it makes sense...i'm just kind of throwing myself for a style loop as i usually gravitate towards the 70s. anyway, are you ready to start making fun of me? here we goooo!

i love 'em, i want 'em, i'd wear 'em everyday!! i really LOVE these.

i don't even understand why i like these?? this is really not my style at all, haha, i'm just drawn to that chunky plastic wedge, plus these ones are steve maddens from the 90s so i know they'd be comfy!

i think these gorgeous ones take the cake for me...they're in my size too, not in my price range though :( wah!

i love the different shades and colours in these boots. do you guys think i'm crazy yet for digging all these platforms??

alright so these boots are amazing for a few reasons...a) they're velvet [ah! both style crushes in the same item!!] b) the style is great, c) they're just really freaking awesome & d) they're 15!! but alas e) 1/2 a size too small for me. aren't these shoes FUN?? i want 'em, i need 'em!

i'm kind of dying over these...

these chunky leopard print shoes are amaaaazing!!

alright so am i crazy?? some of these are pretty normal and 'trendy' right now but the others....am i nuts? anyone else feeling me on this, feel free to chime in now

outfit post: nerd squad ft. blowfish shoes!

outfit details

button up - H&M

cardigan - old navy

leggings - H&M

glasses - bleudame

hee hee boots - c/o blowfish shoes

aren't they great??
i've wanted a lace up boot for a really long time and oh my goodness, you have no idea how comfy these are (unless of course you own a pair in which you do know how comfy & great they are!) they're completely fur lined which makes it feel like you're walking on a cloud, for realsies! also their name is just super cute...hee hee :)

black leather with corduroy on the outside & fur lined on the inside...doesn't get much better than that! they also come in chocolate brown & grey, i think brown would be really pretty!

i realize this outfit isn't overly exciting (it was a comfy day...no pj pants though, see!) i kind of feel super nerdy...like i'm about to write a book report or something ;) i took these photos super quick before heading over to my girl thursday's place to babysit little georgia. i got a hug almost the second i walked in the door, she's literally the cuuuutest!

also, are you aware of blowfish bootights? they look so cozy & well, they just make so much sense! it's one of those things that i found myself thinking 'why didn't I think of that?'

sponsor call for december

i'm excited about december, aren't you?? i mean, even if you hate winter and snow and being cold...you must like christmas, and if you don't theeeen i'm not sure we can be friends anymore...

*are you still there?*

i was just kidding about the whole christmas thang. though i do think you might be crazy if you don't like christmas, we can still be friends.

ANYWHO! perhaps you'd like to be a sponsor on the miss teacups blog for december...i run sponsorships a little differently around here (cost free) whether you have an etsy shop or blog, here's how you can be a sponsor:

host a giveaway on miss teacups

yup, it's that easy!

(this can be an item from your etsy shop or just something you'd think my readers would like to win, put together by you)

this is a good way to promote your etsy shop or just get more readers on their way over to your blog/twitter, etc. if you have an item you'd like to send me from your etsy shop, i would be happy to style it in an outfit post and/or do a review of your product/shop

here's some stats for those who like numbers:

i currently range anywhere from 150-300 views per day (with a high of up to 500, usually when giveaways are taking place)
last month i had over 4,000+ visits to my blog
i have a wide range of readers/visitors from all over the world

send me an email to dear.love@live.ca & let's chat more!

100 years of style

it is no secret...i love boots, i wear them all year 'round. the majority of my shoe collection consists of boots, i just love 'em!

i love all the pretty details and hardware on these beauties.

i don't even have words for these...except three: not my size. darn it...

these moccasins are increeeedible, the pastel pattern is so great!

these little southwestern style booties are amazing!! i've been trying to find an affordable pair in this shape/style for a long time now, to no avail.

i love cowboy boots, i always have. i'm in no way, shape or form a country girl but i've always loved cowboy boots. my dad wears them...i must get my love of them from him.

etsy faves: this & that

i believe this sweater meets all of the 'cute sweater' critera...knitted, comfy, perfect length, awesome print...yup!

i adore this fox print from paper sparrow

this knit poncho is right up my alley. comfy & oversized, my motto for this season!

crushing out hard on this pyrite silver plated cuff from dirdy birdy

365 lucky days

lucky jackson is an amazing and unique local (to me) artist. she definitely makes me want to learn to embroider! she has been creating one piece of art everyday for 63/365 days so far. if you haven't heard of it by now then i just have one question for you: where have you been?? she has a blog to showcase her daily work, that you can visit here

today my girl thursday was featured, lucky is right!

here are some of my other favourites from the project:

aren't they wonderful??

real life stuffs

so this week has been exhausting...emotionally, physically, mentally in a lot of ways which is why i haven't been around the blogosphere much. to let you in on a little bit of 'real life' (aka: outside the blog bubble) i've had a lot going on. for starters, i had to say 'so long' to a very dear friend this week who moved to halifax. here's where the emotional draining part comes in as i've shed many a tear and have been having a hard time with her leaving (i'm going to miss her a TON!)

on a work related note, i'm sure if you've been reading for awhile you know that i have been working part-time at H&M for a little over a year now...well, i was offered a really wonderful job (also still part-time as i'm in school full-time) so i had to part ways with one job, and well, serving is good money sooo it was bye bye retail! i've been working in retail for about ten years now though and so it's become kind of second nature to me. there's a lot of aspects of retail that i love like my fellow employees, helping people style outfits & making themselves feel good in their clothes, the fast paced nature of a busy store & of course the fashion...but it's time to say goodbye. i love the people i worked with at H&M and it was honestly a great company to work for but i'm moving on to bigger and better things so i'm really excited about my new job!

on a work related note, i also worked a 12hr day on friday and a 14hr day on saturday so needless to say my weekend was busy. today was spent with my mum this afternoon, grabbing tea and picking up some groceries and tonight i had dinner and hangouts with my girlfriends so it was a nice end to an otherwise really tiring weekend. last night i came home completely exhausted and delirious to a lovely present on our bed, a gift certificate for a spa in town for an hour massage...i love mikey so much. it was a 'just because' gift since he knows that i've been dealing with a lot this last bit. so thoughtful!

on another lovely note, something wonderful happened last night. my big brother (& only brother) proposed to his girlfriend carrie!! i am SO very excited & happy for them...weddings are so exciting, aren't they??

so anyway, that's just a little catch up! that's what is going on with me outside of being 'miss teacups' lol. some really wonderful things mixed in with some kind of crappy things, but also some exciting new changes in my life.
