i love painting my nails (duh!) here's what has been on my nails recently:

 OBSESSED with this amazing new nail polish by nfu oh...hologram, does it get any better than that?

 candy coated nails, pinks & corals - so fun for summer!

 when my hologram started to wear at the tips...it didn't last too long :( i added a tip of green, these remind me of mermaids for some reason!

this colour by china glaze is called beach cruise-r and it's pretty radical! i'm really into pink polish lately!

loving: days off & not having an agenda...i posted the other day about slowing down & i'm really trying to live by that 

reading: it's your money: becoming a woman of independent means by gail vaz-oxlade (woman is a genius, SO glad my mum bought me this book!)

listening to: of monsters & men...yes, still. i'm kind of obsessed

eating: banana popsicles...all day everyday.

anticipating: this is sort of silly because it's a year away but i am already really looking forward to my brother & carrie's destination wedding next summer!!

watching: mikey & i are still watching lost. also i watched 50/50 last night & it was really good!

+ i love this girl...seriously, her blog has quickly become my favourite. i often find her posts are reflective of how i am feeling so it's always lovely to read her posts

i saw this on a wild tonic and knew i had to share!

if you have an iphone, you are guaranteed to be addicted to instagram...guaranteed! i often find myself saying "i wish my whole life was in  [insert filter name here]" (usually earlybird, it's my fave!) and soon, it will be available! why didn't i think of this?? well...i DID think of it, it's more like 'why didn't i market this?' ...coulda been a millionaire!

yep, these are probably going to be mega expensive...and to be honest i'm not a huge fan of the design of the outside/white sunglasses but i love the idea!

taking my time

this morning i took my time...

i let me body sleep in as long as it needed to

i made a tea and drank it slowly

i painted my nails without rushing out the door right after

i sat and listened to my cat breath as she slept

i took a long shower

i made a yummy breakfast

i took my time

often times i think that we forget to do this simple thing. we are always rushing to get something done or to be somewhere and we never stop to just take our time. i usually arrive 15 minutes early because i walk so fast (and i walk everywhere) i've started to try to take my time as i walk...i give myself more than enough time to get there so i should slow down and enjoy my walk instead of just focusing on getting to where i'm going. i need more mornings like these where i just give myself time...have no agenda...am in no rush.

today, even if it's just for a few moments, i want you to slow down and take your time

a makeup post: my typical summer look

come summer i tend to go light with my makeup. here is my go-to summer look; a light coat of foundation, some blush on the apples of my cheeks, a faint cat eye, slick of mascara - top it off with a bright lipstick & away you go! i always used to watch 'what not to wear' and the makeup artist carmindy would call her looks 'the 5 minute face' well generally that's all i take to do my makeup as well...i mean, you're going to walk outside soon & it's going to all melt off your face in the heat anyway, right? ;)

trick: try adding white eyeliner to your inner eyelids to makes your eyes look bigger & brighter!

a subtle cat eye always gives eyes a pretty feminine touch

for those wondering about comfort of walking on a wooden shoe - i own two pairs of ugglebo clogs myself & i was amazed at how comfortable they are to walk in. considering wood is hard, you'd think they would be too but there's something about them that makes them extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. i love my ugglebos!

an ode to fall

alright so all you summer loving misses out there will probably cringe when you see what i'm posting about today but seeing as yesterday was the first day of summer, i felt the need to share just how i feel about it.

to be honest, i hate it. 

alright alright, hate is a strong word...i dislike it, quite a bit. i'm not into being sweaty, or wearing minimal clothing, and i don't even really like sandals that much. i don't sit out in the sun because i'm very fair & have had far too many sunburns in my life, i walk everywhere and in the dead of summer (aka: right now) that means i melt by the time i get to my destination, i prefer to be cold over hot (always) i love layers upon layers and wearing boots everyday and snuggling into cozy sweaters and...i could go on and on and on about things i love about fall. it's the best season and i just wish it stuck around longer than it does! global warming is not my friend.

here's some things i wish i was wearing instead of the tank, shorts & sandals i have on now:

 scarves are my thing. i own a million of them because the second the weather is cool enough, i always have one on! handmade ones like this are my favourite.

i even love having to wear a jacket! 

boots win. every-single-time. i'd rather wear boots over sandals, anyday!

i'd rather be cuddling up in this oversized sweater than sitting in front of the AC so i don't melt

so, are ya with me? i know i'm not totally alone on this one as i've heard from a few other tweeters that they feel the same! to the rest of you who are enjoying this absurd heat, you're kind of crazy ;)

overall it was a lovely birthday week,

i had so much fun & 26 is feeling pretty great so far!

saturday night was my birthday party at our place & also the shooting of the lumbermen's first music video. we had 2 kegs of steam whistle, a house full of friends & the results were some pretty awesome photos (& hopefully some amazing video footage) and clearly amazing times!
