yesterday i wore track pants in public for the first time ever. yes i'm serious. i don't know if it's because i live in a city where people think it's normal & okay to wear plaid pajama pants or track pants on a day-to-day basis that made me despise this particular 'look' but i've always hated it & think that it's wrong. pajama pants are to be worn as pajama's, track pants are to be worn in the comfort of your home, double stamped it, no erasies. but then pinterest showed me it was okay to wear joggers (cause calling it joggers means it's not track pants & therefore it's ok) & that they could even be considered fashionable...am i pushing it? either way i don't really give a sheee-it because i did it & it won't be the last time either. i was so damn comfy, all day long. maybe you're not ok with it, but that's okay, i was you once too...you'll come around. try it, i dare you.

wearing joggers is kind of ironic for me right now because the last thing i've been doing lately is jogging (i wish i were though) i've been having chronic foot pains near the bone/base of my big toe for a week straight & mama thinks i'm growing a bunion just like she has, hip hip hooray! i thought bunions were for old people, turns out that's not true. i haven't gotten it looked at yet, but seeing as both of my jobs require me to stand on my foot, nothing has been improving. looks like my next day off will be spent at a walk-in clinic or a podiatrists...ugh.

last night was lovely, i went out with the managers of the shops after work (consisting of mikey, who's my bf & jess & B who are two of my besties...silly to even call them co-workers because they're so much more than that) for some wine, cheese & meats to one of the coziest places in peterborough. in conclusion, my job rules & my bosses are two of the raddest people i know!! afterwards mikey & i met up with our good pal russ who had been in europe for 2 weeks. we sat at our favourite bar, drank beers & heard amazing tales of his travels (in conclusion, man oh MAN do i ever want to go to amsterdam & berlin!!)

today i have the day off & am meeting up with my mum for some hangouts. it's only been a few weeks since i've seen my parents but sometimes that feels like forever when you need a hug. sappy but true.

today is my day off & therefore this is my day off outfit, heck who am i kidding, i wear jeans & a tee almost everyday so this is just a general outfit for me. these are my basics though...

& today i did this shellac manicure on myself, which i had been dying to try since i first saw it but needed my nails to be long enough. i'm kind of obsessed with it.

i had the day off yesterday & had big plans all week for it, go for a nice long run, do some laundry, get groceries, and then my foot started hurting a few days ago. the side of my foot, by the bone beside my big toe/underneath and i could barely step on it. i don't know what caused it...wondering if the wedges i wore to a wedding over the weekend/on tuesday pulled something as i don't normally wear heels...or the fact that i was working for 13hrs on my feet yesterday?? no idea...but it hurts!! anyway, instead my day off was spent drinking coffee, reading blogs & dreaming up new tattoo ideas so i guess that wasn't too awful ;)

fall + toronto

over the weekend i went to toronto to visit my girl julie as she was hosting a little blogger night with mel & holly (kait & eryn were supposed to come as well but had to work/were sick - you were missed ladies!!) we drank wine, ate yummy treats & blog talked (of course) it's always funny getting bloggers together & chatting about other bloggers as if we know them in real life.

the following day was the first day of fall (OMG!) julie & i grabbed a coffee, she had her camera so she snapped a few photos, we visited the st.lawrence market where i was a good girl & didn't buy a single thing (but definitely could have!) then we ate a delicious breakfast at the cutest diner, george street diner & caught up. after we made a ridiculous IG video about shit bloggers love, because well, it's all just so true.

 julie is one of my favourite people in this whole damn universe, i love her to bits!! she's just as amazing & happy & cute as she seems on her blog or if you have her on instagram...that's not a front, that's her real life...& it's freaking fantastic, she's so positive to be around. i love her!

it was lovely weekend & the peeeerfect way to spend the first day of my favourite season! i've been enjoying weekends off for most of this month & it's pretty awesome. though i do enjoy my mid-week break, it's nice having two days off in a row so that you can travel & visit friends. 

tomorrow is my day off (back to mid week) & i'm getting a haircut. at first i was just going to get a trim, but i think i've settled on chopping off a bit more than that as i found a super cute photo i really like & i mean, i love my long hair...a lot...but i never DO anything with it, ya know? it feels too flat/lifeless when it's straightened & it doesn't hold curl very well because my layers are so grown out SO i think i'm gonna switch it up a little. it's just hair after all anyway, right? I'M GONNA DO IT!!!

so it's fall & you know what that means...carly's favourite season, or as julie put it; blogger season, because it's so true, bloggers love the shit out of fall & i am no exception! this crisp air has left me feeling refreshed & revitalized & pretty damn awesome! my brain has been on overdrive thinking of all the pretty boots i want & outfits i want to wear.

i thrifted this awesome skakeskin printed blouse at value village this week for $7, paired with my pleather moto shorts from gypsy warrior & my favourite over-worn steve madden boots, i'd say this outfit is a winner!

again, these boots...i wouldn't be lying if i said i wore them 90% of the summer, which you can probably tell. i'm ready to give them a much needed break...maybe...

this free people slip/dress is awesome. it used to be pink...for some reason i bought it in pink at first (i know...i don't wear pink) & when i realized i wasn't wearing it...because it was pink, i dyed it black! 

...& then FP went & made a black one, so i'm not special anymore.

i wore this today & it turned out to be cold & rainy so i was a little under dressed to say the least but i can't wait to wear this outfit again as i was so comfortable all day. i got these shorts a few years ago but will definitely be rocking them a ton this summer. they cover all my not-so-favourite thigh bits.

do you own a denim jacket? if so, is it your absolute favourite piece in your wardrobe? mine is! i own a lot of denim tops/jackets/vests but i wear them like crazy because they just go with everything ya know? such a key piece! 

i just did another major purge of my closet. it feels so good...and i'm surprised i have anything left after i do them, i always seem to get rid of so much. just another realization that i have way too many clothes & need to stop shopping [a post on that coming later this week]

it's been really warm here the past few weeks. we immediately skipped over spring from winter right into summer & i am certainly not complaining. the sunshine has been glorious & my days off have been spent outside & i've been running as much as possible instead of being holed up at the gym. isn't it crazy how the second the sun comes out & it's warmer outside people are instantly happier? i know i definitely needed the warmth, that's for sure. i hope it's been lovely where you are too!

i've said it before on this little blog of mine & i'll say it again as i finally feel as if i'm coming into my own, style wise [it only took 27 years!] but this is me. i'm a jeans & a t-shirt kind of gal. i've tried a million different things & it always comes back to this...i feel the most 'me' when i dress just like in the photo above, or some variation of it. a great t-shirt, solid pair of denim - match that up with some killer accessories & a wicked pair of shoes/boots & away i go. 

you know when you pick something up at the store and think 'this isn't me, but i'm going to try it' ...ya, i've stopped doing that as those are the pieces that sit in my closet & then i end up giving it to the friend that i originally thought 'this is so _____ [insert friends name] but i'm gonna try it anyway' ya, i've wasted too much money on clothes like that SO jeans & tees [for the most part] are what i'll be spending my money on. i'm still on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans.

today is my day off & it is freaking GORGEOUS out there, sunny & warm, so excuse me while i go frolick in the sunshine with my gal pal jess as we are heading out for a picnic!

jeans & a tee is my all-time favourite look. i know it's not a terribly exciting or new concept by any means...but it's classic, it's a go-to, it's a i-know-i'm-going-to-feel-awesome kind of outfit, for me anyway! i always believe in accessories making an outfit come together...especially when you're wearing something simple like jeans & a tee. i always have a handful of rings (on each hand) a wrist full of bracelets & great shoes - those elements of an outfit are what make me feel completed & put together. i know it's silly but the odd days i forget to put my rings on, i feel off all day. they've actually become a part of me (cheesy, but true!) i also seem to have gone back to my high school days where i wear a wrist full of bracelets. lately it's been the more the merrier when it comes to accessories...& hats! i love hats and now that my bangs are no longer i feel like i can pull them off better (& minus the whole sweaty bang thing which was always a bummer) 

anywho, today is the start of my 'weekend' - two days off & road tripping to toronto with some of my besties to shop, eat, get wild & see fu manchu tonight in toronto!

today i'm working a double & then have a quick shift at the shop tomorrow then we're off to toronto for two days to see fu manchu & do some shopping & i couldn't be more excited to get out of town for a bit! here's hoping the skies open up & we see some sunshine really soon because damn this rainy, grey weather is really getting redundant.

spring style: hats

i'm excited for real spring weather for a few reasons. a) i'm fucking sick of winter ...excuse my french but really, lets get on with it & b) hats. i sported a lot of hats this winter...well, toques specifically, as i was growing out my bangs and now that they are longer & the bangs are no more, i am excited to wear more hats this spring! bangs get in the way with hats so they never really looked right before.

are you a hat person or are you one of those people who think 'you can't pull them off' (i hear this phrase far too often - & hate it) and to that i say, find one you love & make yourself a hat person!

as you can tell i wear a lot of denim, always. it's always my go-to...whenever i don't know what to wear [which is most mornings] i generally end up wearing denim that day. i also have about 8 pairs of jeans & 6 or 7 different denim shirts. it's just tried & true...and always makes me feel comfy.

i truly cannot wait for [actual] spring weather to grace us here in ontario. i have so many outfit planned & they're all being ruined by the cold/rainy/grey weather we've been having here. we've had the odd nice day but i am 100% ready for it to stay. what's the weather like where you are? if you have warmth & sunshine, send some my way will ya?? ;)

i really liked this outfit! i felt very 'me' in it, even though it was totally inspired by this outfit of jen's. i have a feeling i will get a lot of use out of that jacket in the spring! also, it's march! spring, where you at??

a little outfit post catch up as it's been well over a month since i did one last! & gosh, aren't you just dying to know what i've been wearing? this week was pretty great for the most part other than being sick for the first 4 days of it (i guess that was the majority of it so not that awesome) but thursday night we did a clothing swap which are always fun & went out for some beers, and this weekend is my first weekend off, wahoo working monday to friday starting now seeing as it's february. which reminds me, happy february! is anyone else pretty damn thankful that january is over? i am. one step closer to spring! i'm really stoked for spring this year...normally i don't mind the winter but i'm pretty sick of it already & being in canada we have at least another 2-2.5 months of it! yuck.
